Paihia Bike Hire

Are You Staying in Paihia or Russell and Looking for Something to do?

Staying in Paihia or Russell? Why not come to us in Opua and hire a Mountain or e-bike and ride to Kawakawa along the Twin Coast Cycle Trail?
Built over a railway line this trail is almost flat and ideal for those wanting a leisurely half day ride

Twin Coast Mountain & E-bike hire – Bay of Islands

We are located in Opua Marina (Bay of Islands) which is just a short 7 minute drive from Paihia, or if coming from Russell we are 500 metres from where the car ferry docks in Opua.  Our offices are 700 metres from the start of the Twin Coast Cycle Trail.

We have electric ebikes or conventional mountain bikes for hire. Please note that the e-bikes are heavily booked in summer and it pays to check in advance to see that we have e-bikes available.

You can cycle along the old railway line to Kawakawa in not much over an hour.  You will ride past boatyards, estuaries, through a tunnel, over a historic wooden bridge, past a disused railway station and alongside a working Heritage Railway.

When you reach Kawakawa you can stop for a coffee or a meal and visit the “world famous” Hundertwasser toilets before you cycle back again.

Want to explore historic Russell? Why not hire a bike and take the car ferry ($1 per person each way) across the harbour? The township is steeped in early New Zealand history, while also offering some of the best restaurants and cafes in the district.

Prices range from $55 for a 4 hour hire on a mountain bike or $75 for an e-bike (Please note that e-bikes are heavily booked in summer and it pays to check availability in advance).. Helmets, maps and bike locks provided. Tuition also provided on the e-bikes.
